A Little History

Restaurant owners Leonardo and Nadine Luzi began in a simple fashion.  Back in 1995 they moved from their home in Rome, Italy, to Kennewick, Washington. Leonardo went to college and worked; Nadine worked and developed her keen eye for style and beauty.
It was in May 1999 they opened a small restaurant, “Bella Italia” where they could offer authentic Italian dishes to food lovers in the Tri Cities area.  Serving in a European Style, where the courses are served in a relaxed and unrushed ambiance, this has been the same theme from the very beginning until this day. The original restaurant was small in size, but huge in flavors with ingredients purchased daily. Originally the lunch menu was served from 11:30 AM until 2:30 PM Tuesday through Saturday. So good were the dishes served that the lunch time customers were asking “when’s dinner going to be available?”  Responding to their loyal customer’s wishes, Leonardo and Nadine began a dinner menu on Friday and Saturday nights, but alas it was
TOO GOOD
and it wasn’t long before dinner dominated and they were open as they are today Tuesday through Saturday from 5 PM to 9 PM.
Very shortly after Bella Italia was first opened the Luzi’s were receiving several requests for banquet service and as the restaurant was small in size, they either had to hold the banquets on their days off or close the restaurant to regular business during their work week.  Business was good, but capacity had been reached………
Then, in 2003 they began to dream of a larger more pleasing and rustic restaurant.   In mid 2005 they began the process of finding land and a designer to work with to realize this dream.  The land was found and purchased in January 2006, ground breaking took place in May 2007 and the beautiful building you see today was completed in December 2007.
Bella Italia now offers a main dining area and small banquet room on the first floor with an Original Gallery of fine art and jewelry.  The upstairs is a large banquet room that has constant demand for meetings and events of every nature.  Since the opening, Leonardo and Nadine have been able to add a patio seating area to take advantage of the Tri Cities lovely weather and now a terrace upstairs is being completed for more outdoor enjoyment.  All of this has made Bella Italia a favorite dining experience for an evening of enjoyment and exquisite Italian Food.
